The last type of archery broadheads are known as mechanical broadheads or expandable broadheads. A large entrance wound is the result of these broadheads as the blades will expand once the broadhead makes contact with the game animal with a cutting diameter of two or more inches. Although mechanical broadheads may not work as well as other types for large game such as elk and moose, they are easy to tune and very accurate. Many companies are beginning to add the cut-on-contact broadhead tip to the mechancial broadheads - another example of continuously changing technology and requested broadhead improvements from the hunting community.
