Compound Bows, Youth Archery Bows, Archery Compound BowQuality Archery Bows offers a large selection of new 2010 compound bows and youth bows at the most competitive prices delivered with the highest level of customer service. The compound bow was first developed in 1966 by Holless Wilbur Allen in Missouri, and a US patent was granted in 1969. Compared to other archery bows such as crossbows, recurve bows and longbows, the compound bow is the most popular type of hunting bow currently in use and is still considered a simple hunting devise in today’s terms. The new 2010 compound bows from top manufacturers such as Alpine, Arrow Precision, Barnett, Fred Bear, Browning, Diamond, Genesis, Martin, PSE, G5 Quest Bowhunting and Reflex will provide incredible performance including a lightweight, compact and quiet bow at an affordable price. Compound bows are constructed of 4 primary parts. The first part is the central riser which is the main part of the each bow. The riser is designed to be very stiff and is typically made of aluminum or magnesium. Archery bow accessories such as sights, stabilizers and quivers are mounted to the central riser. The second part of compound bows are the limbs which is manufactured with composite materials. Many beginners believe that the pulleys and cables are the primary place energy is stored when shooting compound or youth bows; however, all of the energy is actually stored in the limbs. In the most common configuration, there is a cam or wheel at the end of each limb. The cams and wheels are the third main part of the bow. There are several different concepts and designs for utilizing the cams to store energy in the limbs of the new compound bows. These all fall under a category called bow eccentrics. The four most common types of bow eccentrics are single cam, dual cam, binary cam, and hybrid cam. Strings and cables are the fourth component of each bow. These are the primary source for transferring energy from the bow to the arrows. |
