The archery quiver is essential to protecting the arrow for compound bows, the recurve bow and longbows. A quiver can also protect crossbow bolts. Traditional quivers have been made from a variety of materials, including leather, bark, wood, furs and other natural materials. Today, the quiver is also made from sythetic and composite materials and comes in many differrent forms and styles. Many archers that target shoot prefer to use arrow quivers that hang from your belt which allows for little distraction when shooting your bow. The back quiver slings over either shoulder and is convenient if you're walking any amount of distance. One disadvantage of this type of quiver is that access to the arrows or bolts is more difficult as the shooter has to reach high to withdraw an arrow.
