Treestands and Ladder Stands

There are many types and brands of tree stands available for every type of hunting. Quality Archery Bows offers three main types of treestands which include ladder stands, climbing stands and hang on stands. Many of the treestands are made by companies, such as Ol' Man Outdoors, Summit Treestands, Lone Wolf Stands, Gorilla Treestands, Big Game Treestands, Millennium Treestands, Muddy Outdoors, Ambush and Extreme Outdoor Products, that have been in the business for over 25 years. That means they know hunting and what hunters want, including deer stands that are carefully engineered to be silent, secure, concealed and comfortable. These stands are built to last with some manufacturers including a 5 year warranty on their products.

Climbing stands are the most popular type of stand on the market today, primarily due to their versatility. These treestands allow you to go as high as you like, are easily portable and can be used with any trees that are big enough to support you and the stand. The climber is designed to "walk" up a tree trunk with the hunter to a desired elevation. The self-climbing deer stands are not suited for trees with shaggy bark such as some pines or hickories, nor for trees with branches between the ground and the desired location of the treestand.

Ladder stands are ideal for setting up at a location that you plan on using for an entire hunting season or several seasons in a row and consists of a ladder and a platform with a seat. The platform typically has a contoured rear section that allows the tree stand platform to fit around a tree. The ladder is usually divided into short sections that can be transported to your favorite hunting spot and assembled on site. There are many different ways to attach the deer stand to the tree including ropes, chains, ratchet straps and cam buckle straps to name a few. The average ladder treestand will get you up off the ground 12 to 16 feet.

A hang-on stand is best used for a semi-permanent hunting location. One advantage of the hang on stand is that you have a wider selection of trees to use as you don't need a tree that is completely straight. Most hang-on deer stands weigh 12-18 pounds and come with a chain or strap that wraps around the tree to hold the stand permanently in place, although we also recommend adding a rachet strap to the stand to insure the stand does not shift when in use. Hang on treestands also require you to purchase climbing steps or screw in steps to assist you in hanging and hunting out of the stand.

Quality Archery Bows is excited to carry tree stands from manufactures such as Ol' Man Outdoors, Summit Treestands, Lone Wolf Stands, Gorilla Treestands, Big Game Treestads, Millennium Treestands and XOP Stands. To significantly improve your hunting success, browse our climbing stands, ladder stands and hang on treestands to see which one best fits into your hunting style and price range.
